I designed and created the 2022 Bank Iowa annual report from start to finish. I created a type heavy system to vary the look and feel from previous years. The annual report is used as a sales tool for our lenders and frontline staff to utilize in gaining new bank clients.
My logo was selected by the Iowa DOT for an autonomous vehicle project. I chose to use a sideways power symbol as a āGā because the client wanted to embrace technology and stay away from the science aspect.
I designed front and back of book, stories and illustrations from June 2017-December 2017. I was able to carry out concepts and designs that were approved by Hy-Vee into final layouts of the magazine.
I designed stories and illustrations for various issues throughout 2017. Life:Beautiful allowed me a lot of creative freedom to really explore various illustration styles. I was able to experiment using the iPad Pro and pencil to create different effects.
The Hy-Vee Mega Ad was a monthly promotional ad that showcased all of Hy-Veeās sale items for the month. It was exciting to be part of a team that executed the look and feel for the ad from the very first issue. I watched the ad evolve over time into a more intentional and cohesive theme that was carried throughout the catalog.
I designed illustrations and gifs for the magazine from June 2017-October 2017. Hy-Vee wanted to use the gifs as online promotion pieces for both their website and social media.
Working for Hy-Vee taught me how to produce a variety of work under very tight deadlines. These advertisements represent both how to stick within the Hy-Vee brand standard as well as how to push outside of the box to try new ways of organizing typography and photos.
My experience working for MASH helped prepare me for the fast pace of real world design. In school we spend weeks on sketches and preliminary work, but at MASH I discovered how fast a realistic design process can be. Throughout this experience I created business cards for MASH, marketing proposals for UnityPoint Health and Omaha Country Club, and advertisements for McKinney Law.
I particularly enjoyed making these cards and invites because it forced me to design outside of the computer. It taught me about the importance of craft and technique firsthand and how sometimes there is beauty in organic form as well.
